QR code that redirects by country, device and language

A geo-targeted QR code sends each visitor to the right page by country, device, operating system, browser language, day or hour of the scan. With Krealo QR (Pro plan) you order up to 10 rules on one link: the first match wins, otherwise the main destination applies.

Who it’s for

  • A brand in Canada and France with one online shop per country.
  • A business that wants a lunch menu by day and a wine list in the evening.
  • A bilingual audience that must land on the page in their language.
  • A mobile app: one page for iPhone, another for Android, a third for desktop.

How it works

  1. Open the link’s page, “Destination by visitor” section.
  2. Add a rule: one or more conditions (country, device, system, language, days, time range) and the “Go to” address.
  3. Order the rules with “Move up” and “Move down”: the first match wins.
  4. Try the tester: pick a country, a language, a date and an hour to see where that visitor would go, then save.

The conditions you can use

For a rule to apply, all of its conditions must be true, and every rule has at least one.

  • Country, with two-letter codes (CA, FR, BE…).
  • Device: phone, tablet or computer.
  • System: iOS, Android or other.
  • Browser language (fr, en, es…).
  • Days of the week.
  • Time range, which can cross midnight (10 pm to 2 am).

How rules are applied

The server reads the rules in order and takes the first match. If none matches, it sends the visitor to the main destination. Rules run before any A/B test. Hours and days follow the time zone shown in the editor (your browser’s when you save), and the day is the one at the moment of the scan.

Where does the country come from?

The country is an estimate drawn from the visitor’s network address by the hosting infrastructure. A VPN, a corporate network or a phone roaming abroad can give another country. The language comes from the browser settings, not from location.

Honest limits

  • At most 10 rules per link.
  • Rules only apply to links that point to a web address: a vCard, a hosted page or a Wi-Fi code has none.
  • If the Pro plan ends, the rules stay saved but stop applying.
  • To send iPhone to the App Store and Android to Google Play, the “app” code type already does it, with no rule.

Frequently asked questions

Can I send visitors from Canada and France to two different pages?

Yes. Add a “country: CA” rule to the Canadian page, a “country: FR” rule to the French page, and keep a main destination for everyone else.

What happens when no rule matches?

The visitor goes to the link’s main destination, the one you entered when you created it.

How many rules can I create?

Up to 10 per link. They are read from top to bottom and the first match wins.

Is country detection reliable?

It is an estimate based on the network address. It is right in most cases, but a VPN or corporate network can fool it. Browser language is a steadier criterion for a bilingual page.

Can I test my rules before printing?

Yes, with the tester on the link’s page: pick a country, a language, a date and an hour, and it shows the destination that would be served.
