QR code for posters and flyers, ready to print

A QR code for a poster or flyer must stay sharp from small to large formats. Krealo QR exports your code as vector SVG, a 2,048 px PNG or a PDF, with a white margin, a warning when contrast is too low and a “Scan me” frame. PNG is free; SVG, PDF and coloured frames are Pro.

Who it’s for

  • A shop that prints posters, flyers and business cards.
  • A restaurant that puts a code on its menus and windows.
  • An agency that hands files to a printer.
  • An organization putting a code on signs or packaging.

How it works

  1. Create the link and open its page, in the code design section.
  2. Pick dark colours on a light background, a logo if you like, and a frame with its text.
  3. Download the right format: SVG for the printer, PNG for a document, PDF to print as is.
  4. Print a proof first and scan it with two or three phones before the full run.

Which format for which use

  • SVG (Pro): vector, it scales up without loss. This is the file for a printer or a sign shop.
  • 2,048 px PNG: to drop into a document or layout tool. PNG is free on every plan.
  • PDF (Pro): a letter-size page with the 6-inch code centred, ready to print. The code is placed as a high-resolution image, not as vector: for true vector, use the SVG.

What makes a code that scans

The code is exported with a white margin: do not crop it, and leave white space around it. A warning appears when the contrast between the colours is too low for reliable reading. If you add a logo, the code switches to high error correction and the logo is capped at 30% of the width.

For size, a common rule of thumb is reading distance divided by ten: a code seen from 1 m is about 10 cm wide. It is only a guide: print a proof and test it.

The “Scan me” frame

The basic frame is free. Five more (bubble, ticket, phone, ribbon, corners) are Pro. The text can be up to 30 characters and the colour must stay readable on white. The frame is included in PNG, SVG and PDF exports.

Honest limits

  • Exports are in screen colours (RGB), not CMYK. A black code on white converts without loss; ask your printer to check brand colours.
  • The Free plan produces black-and-white PNG codes. Colours, logo, SVG and PDF are Pro.
  • A code that points to a short link stays valid as long as the link is active. Changing the destination later requires Pro.

Frequently asked questions

Which format should I give my printer?

The SVG, because it is vector and scales without loss. If the printer does not accept SVG, give the 2,048 px PNG.

What size should I print?

It depends on the reading distance. A common rule of thumb: the distance divided by ten. Always print a proof and test it with several phones before the run.

Is the PDF vector?

No. The PDF holds the code as a high-resolution image on a letter-size page. For a vector file, download the SVG.

Can I add my logo in the centre of the code?

Yes, with the Pro plan. The code then switches to high error correction and the logo is capped at 30% of the width so it stays readable.

What does the contrast warning do?

It appears when the code and its background are too close in tone for a reliable scan. Use a dark colour on a light background.
