QR code on your own domain

With a custom domain, your short links and QR codes show your brand (go.yourbrand.com/menu) instead of qr.krealomedia.com. Krealo QR (Pro plan) first checks that the domain is yours through a TXT record, then sets up the HTTPS certificate. Allow up to 24 hours before everything is active.

Who it’s for

  • A brand that wants the link shown under the code to carry its name.
  • A franchise or network keeping a single domain for its printed material.
  • An agency setting up the domain of a client whose DNS it manages.
  • An organization that does not want to depend on any third-party address on its posters.

How it works

  1. Pick a subdomain used for nothing else, for example go.yourbrand.com, at your domain provider.
  2. Under “Domains”, add it: Krealo QR shows the TXT record to create at your DNS provider. Create it, then click “Verify”.
  3. Then add the records Krealo QR shows (CNAME or A, and a TXT for the certificate). The status refreshes every minute.
  4. When the domain is active, pick it on a link’s page. The QR code changes: print it after that choice.

Why verify through DNS

Before serving anything, Krealo QR requires a TXT record specific to your account on the domain. Until it is there, the domain does not answer. So nobody can take a domain whose DNS they do not control.

What you need

A domain name you own, and access to its DNS settings at your provider. Krealo QR does not sell domains: any purchase happens elsewhere. A dedicated subdomain (go., qr., link.) is the simplest.

Honest limits

  • Up to 5 domains per account.
  • Changing a link’s domain changes what the QR code contains: reprint it. So choose the domain before printing.
  • A link identifier stays unique across all of Krealo QR, even on your domain: an identifier already taken elsewhere is not available.
  • The HTTPS certificate can take up to 24 hours. If you delete the domain, a code already printed with it stops working: keep it active as long as your codes are in circulation.

Availability

This feature is part of the Pro plan, US$5.99 per month or US$39.99 per year, plus taxes. The 7-day Pro trial needs no credit card and is available once per account.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use my own domain for my QR codes?

Yes, with the Pro plan, up to 5 domains per account, for example go.yourbrand.com.

How long until the domain is active?

TXT verification is quick once your DNS is up to date. The HTTPS certificate follows and can take up to 24 hours. The status refreshes every minute in your account.

Do I have to reprint if I change domain?

Yes. The domain is part of the address encoded in the code: changing domain changes the code. Choose it before printing.

Does Krealo QR sell me the domain?

No. You must already own the domain and be able to edit its DNS records at your provider.

Can someone else use my domain in my place?

No. The domain only works if a TXT record specific to your account is in its DNS, and its links are only served for your account.
