Wi-Fi QR code

A Wi-Fi QR code holds your network name, its security type and its password. Guests scan it with their phone camera and join the network without typing anything. With Krealo QR it is a static code: the details live in the code itself and never pass through our server.

Create the QR code for your network

  • Sign in to Krealo QR and choose the Wi-Fi type.
  • Enter the network name (SSID) and pick the security: WPA, WEP or none.
  • Type the password and say whether the network is hidden.
  • Download the QR code as a PNG, then print it or display it at the front desk.

A static code: what that means

The network details are written into the code. It does not go through the Krealo QR server, so it does not count scans and does not depend on any short link. By default the password is not kept in your account: it stays only in the code you download. It is saved only if you tick “remember”.

If the password changes

Because the details are inside the code, a new password needs a new QR code, printed again. That is the trade-off for a code that needs no server to work.

Where to display it

  • At the counter of a shop or restaurant.
  • In a waiting room, a meeting room or a guest room.
  • In a short-term rental, near the entrance or on the fridge.

A security tip

Anyone who can see the code can read the password it holds. If it is displayed in a public place, create it for a guest network, separate from your main business network.

Frequently asked questions

How does a Wi-Fi QR code work?

The code holds the network name, its security type and its password. When you scan it with the camera, the phone offers to join the network, with no typing.

Is the Wi-Fi QR code free?

Yes. The Wi-Fi type is included in the Free plan, with no credit card. An account is required.

Is my password stored on your servers?

Not by default. It is kept in your account only if you tick “remember”. Otherwise it stays only in the code you download.

Does the code count scans?

No. It is a static code: it does not pass through our server and has no statistics.

What if I change the network password?

Create a new QR code and replace the one on display, because the password is written inside the code.
